Riding high off solid online buzz and (presumably) high viewership numbers, the new spin-off series will continue riding the coattails of “The Boys” on its way to a second season that promises even more chaotic, depraved, but absolutely thrilling twists and turns to come. Much like the debut outing of its parent series back in 2019, the season 2 order for “Gen V” comes well ahead of its freshman finale — although “The Boys” had the added benefit of being renewed before any actual episodes had even aired in the first place. But good things come to those who wait, apparently, as fans can now rest assured that Prime Video is throwing their support behind whatever the writers have in store.
Amazon MGM Studios’ head of television Vernon Sanders had this to say about the news:
“Expanding the universe of ‘The Boys’ with a series as bold as ‘Gen V’ has been an incredible journey for us and our wonderful partners at Sony. From our first conversation with showrunners Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, along with [executive producers] Eric Kripke, Evan Goldberg, and Seth Rogen, we knew ‘Gen V’ would push the boundaries. Their unapologetic approach is exactly what audiences love, and it has helped ‘Gen V’ become the No. 1 series on Prime Video in over 130 countries. ‘Gen V’ is Prime Video’s most acquisitive new original series of 2023, and we’re excited that our incredible cast and crew are going to continue telling brave and bold stories from ‘Gen V’ to our customers.”
Season 1 is currently barreling towards a spectacular conclusion, with the finale scheduled to stream on Prime Video November 2, 2023.
